I just hope we don't take two steps back...
Today, while I was getting ready, I had Mya in the tub. At one point she got out, said "Pee, Mama, Pee", sat down on her little potty and peed. Then she wiped and wanted to empty it into the big toilet. I like to help her, but she doesn't like my help. However, she doesn't get a choice because she typically pours about 1/2 of the pee on the floor. Thanks, but no thanks. So, after I helped her she was so mad at me and cried, "No Mama, My pee, my pee!" After I acknowledged that it was in fact her pee, she got back into the tub. I then left the room to get dressed. As I'm dressing I hear a distinct grunt. CRAP! (literally!!) "Mya, do you have to poo?" (as I'm heading for the bathroom) "no mama!" (as she is sitting on the potty). She then stands up, looks in her potty, then at me with a satisfied 'I'm smarter than you' face and says "poo mama, poo. MY POO!" I get a high '10' and let her take care of 'her poo', and she gets back in the tub.
So, here is my dilemma. Obviously, this kid IS smarter than me. Not that I'm surprised, she came out knowing how to program the VCR clock. She has now proved to me she KNOWS what the sensation feels like, and can get on the potty by herself. But she is doing it on her schedule. After her nap today, she refused panties (even her Dora panties), and wanted to wear a diaper. So I asked her to still use the potty...but I won't be surprised when she comes up to me 1/2 naked with a new diaper in the next 30 minutes.
For any of you who haven't started potty training, I suggest doing it BEFORE your kid becomes smarter than you are. For some of you, it's too late...good luck!!
