I'm so proud!! (wiping a tear...) Mya is my little baker! I was going to make some "magic cookie bars" or "seven layer bars" for a neighbor and Mya found the bag of chocolate chips. Naturally, being a child of my womb, she wanted some. So, I decided instead of just giving her a couple, that I would let her help me make the bars. So, I moved to the dining table and sat her in a chair. I poured some milk chocolate and butterscotch chips onto the table her and showed her what I wanted her to do. She then sampled the chips and started putting them on the graham crackers! Of course, she didn't spread them out, so I had to help with that, but she did great. She also enjoyed helping (and sampling) the coconut. Now...I just have to figure out some other "Mya friendly" things to bake. So...if you have any ideas, please let me know!! I'm going to include the recipe we used, but I think the name is going to be changed from here on out at our house... maybe MYA MAGIC BARS?
MYA MAGIC BARS
2 pkg graham crackers
1 stick butter
1/2 pkg milk chocolate chips
1/2 pkg butterscotch chips
pecans (chopped)
flaked coconut
1-14oz can sweetened condensed milk
Place graham crackers on a cookie sheet (jelly roll pan), melt butter and pour over the top. Spread milk choc. & butterscotch chips, coconut & pecans evenly over graham crackers. Pour sweetened condensed milk over all layers and bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 or until coconut starts to turn brown. TA DA! Cut into bars & Enjoy!
